A suspect has been charged after a fatal shooting that left two men dead in Brighton, Alabama earlier this month.
James David Abercrombie, 27, faces murder charges in connection to the Dec. 13 double homicide of Roderick Hall, 38, and D’Angelo Le’Marcus Samuel, 27.
Samuel, a local rapper known as Landlord Lo, and Hall were attending a funeral reception honoring Samuel’s uncle at the Brighton Community Center.
The shooting occurred just before 2:30 p.m. local time. Both victims sustained gunshot wounds to the head and died at the scene.
Brighton Police Captain and Assistant Fire Chief Kenneth Hooten was among the first responders following the shooting.
He recognized Hall as a “down-to-earth guy” who “didn’t bother anybody.”
“I went to elementary school with him before I became a cop or a firefighter. We hung out, and we’d check in on each other from time to time.”
