One person is dead and nine others are wounded after a mass shooting in Baltimore County Tuesday evening.
Police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Loch Raven Boulevard in Towson at around 7:15 p.m.
“When officers arrived, they found a vehicle on its side and in flames,” Police Chief Robert McCullough said.
“Multiple victims were discovered, and the fire department was alerted to provide assistance.”
McCullough said the fatality was confirmed at the scene and nine other victims were taken to area hospitals with gunshot wounds.
Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.
“This appears to be intentional. We believe the individuals knew each other, and there is no ongoing threat to the public,” McCullough added.
An investigation involving the Baltimore Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is ongoing.
“This type of violence is rare in Baltimore County,” said Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski, describing the shooting as a shocking tragedy.
“This type of violence is rare in Baltimore County. We will provide all necessary resources to support our police and fire departments as they work to bring justice to those responsible.”
