A Florida mother allegedly made suspicious internet searches after the death of her 4-month-old baby last September.
Johnisha Cole, 32, was apprehended Friday after an investigation into her baby’s death after the child was found choking and losing consciousness from “cruel” injuries at her home.
The injuries included “femur and multiple rib fractures, large areas of bruising, and severe abdominal bloating.”
Cole “never had explanations” for the injuries. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.
Lee County investigators alleged Cole searched the internet about “How long do you have to make a police report?” and “How to sign away parental rights?” and even sent texts to friends revealing that she wanted her child to die and admitting to shaking her.
“This case is cruel, and this infant endured deadly abuse from its mother her entire life,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said.
“My heart breaks for this child, but my detectives dedicated themselves to bringing her justice by digging for evidence and making an arrest.”
