A Pennsylvania man was found dead in his garage along with his wife and son who survived the suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.
The incident occurred Friday at a home on Shaffer Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County authorities said.
Donald Robinson, 85, his wife and son were found unresponsive in a garage attached to their home.
Robinson was declared dead at the scene. His wife and son were taken to a hospital where they were being treated.
Detectives said the family was victims of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a gas-powered log splitter that was found in the garage.
Robinson’s wife became unresponsive when she went to check on her husband in the garage and called 911 after finding him lying on the ground.
Their son arrived at the scene and lost consciousness next to his parents. Pennsylvania State Police said the surviving victims were in stable condition.
