The human remains found in a pickup truck buried in the Mississippi River last September have been identified as a missing Illinois man.
East Moline Police Chief Jeff Ramsey said the remains belonged to Daniel Claeys, a resident reported missing in 2019 while in his early 30s.

The pickup truck was reported stolen two years earlier. It was found buried near a boat ramp in East Moline in the Mississippi River.
“The East Moline Police Department continues to investigate this incident as a homicide,” Ramsey said.
“Family has been notified and they now have some closure knowing their family member has been located.”
