A Selmer Police officer and his alleged killer are dead after a police-involved shooting in McNairy County, Tennessee Saturday.
The fallen officer responded to reports of a suspicious person outside a home in the 100 block of New Bethel Road at around 3 p.m. when he encountered 39-year-old Daniel Jeremiah Holmes.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Holmes attacked the officer and fired several shots killing him.

A fellow officer fired on the suspect, fatally striking him. He was declared dead at the scene.
The fallen officer’s identity remained unclear as of Sunday morning.
The TBI is leading the investigation into the incident and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
