A Connecticut man was charged over the August death of his baby girl who was found deceased in a bathing tub by motel staff, police said.
Dale Kirkland, 31, has been charged with murder after initially facing charges of risk of injury to a minor and cruelty to persons.
The father was seen holding a dirty baby in a dirty diaper and entering a motel room on August 20.
The man was caught leaving the room without the baby the following morning.
Employees found the deceased girl in a baby bathing tub in the room on August 21 and called 911.
The infant was pronounced dead at Yale New Haven Hospital shortly later.
A motel guest told detectives that they’d seen the “disheveled” father talking with the clerk days before the incident.
He was holding a baby that appeared dirty. He asked the clerk for cigarettes and drugs.
