Connecticut father charged after baby found dead in motel room

A Connecticut man was charged over the August death of his baby girl who was found deceased in a bathing tub by motel staff, police said.

Dale Kirkland, 31, has been charged with murder after initially facing charges of risk of injury to a minor and cruelty to persons.

The father was seen holding a dirty baby in a dirty diaper and entering a motel room on August 20.

The man was caught leaving the room without the baby the following morning.

    The infant was pronounced dead at Yale New Haven Hospital shortly later.

    A motel guest told detectives that they’d seen the “disheveled” father talking with the clerk days before the incident.

    He was holding a baby that appeared dirty. He asked the clerk for cigarettes and drugs.
