Ohio authorities said in an update that a father accused of kidnapping his 7-year-old daughter was killed after a chase late Monday.
Charles Alexander, 43, was the subject of a state-wide Amber Alert after he kidnapped his daughter, Oaklynn Alexander.
Alexander, who was armed, was apprehended after a dramatic chase after officers deployed stop sticks.
His 2023 Ford F-650 U-Haul was located at around 8 p.m. He reportedly stopped the U-Haul at a parking lot in Medina Township after striking the stop sticks.
Negotiation attempts with Alexander failed before he was fatally shot by police.
His daughter managed to escape from the vehicle, unharmed.
“The child is okay, thank God. And a tragedy has been escaped,” Captain Bors of the Medina County Sheriff’s Office said.
“The child appeared to be okay at this time physically.”
