Indianapolis news, Indiana news.

A missing Indiana man was found dead inside a Planet Fitness tanning bed on Monday, police said.

39-year-old Derek Sink’s body was discovered inside the equipment at an Indianapolis Planet Fitness at around 9 a.m. Monday.

The man’s family had reported him missing Sunday, but he was last heard from on Friday, authorities said.

Investigators were able to track Sink to the business through an ankle monitor he had on him.

“And I was kind of like sniffing, trying not to look crazy, but I was like, ‘Something smells really awful here’,” she said.

The woman added that the smell was stronger near the tanning rooms. She wondered how the body was not discovered earlier despite being open over the weekend.

“The first thing that kind of went off in my head was you know, lack of attention from staff members at Planet Fitness, which is pretty disappointing because maybe it could’ve been prevented.”
