New York authorities are now looking for four bodies in the Niagara River after two tragic suicides that occurred at the iconic waterfalls within days.
Witnesses reported seeing a woman intentionally getting into the water at Goat Island Wednesday afternoon sending police and search crews to the scene.
“An immediate search of the area commenced using Park Police drone, foot searches of the gorge, and visual searches from overlooks,” police said.
The search continues along with ongoing efforts to locate the bodies of a mother who plunged with her two children days earlier.
On October 28, 33-year-old Chianti Means and her two children aged 5-month-old and 9-year-old fell to death at Luna Island.
Police said footage of the incident showed the mother pushing her children over the safety railing into the rushing water before jumping in herself.
“We believe this was intentional,” State Park Police Official James O’Callaghan said.
“Not going to get into what the witnesses saw because it’s still an active case, but it is alarming what they told us.”
