3 killed, 2 injured when driver fleeing police rams into homeless group

Three people were killed and two others wounded when a car fleeing a traffic stop slammed into a group of homeless in Everett, Washington.

The suspect was attempting to flee from police when he crossed into the city on Airport Road, sped off, and rammed into a group of pedestrians outside a convenience store at around 1 a.m. Saturday.

Three people were pronounced dead at the scene. Two women in their 20s suffered traumatic injuries and were listed in critical condition.

  • Police said at least 3 or 4 people were inside the car when it crashed. They reportedly ran away after the collision.

    Three male juveniles were arrested in the area and later released to families.

    Officer CJ Hawley said the victims were homeless and sleeping on the grass near a sidewalk when they were struck.
