Woman charged after giving girl fentanyl for toothache causing fatal overdose

A Missouri woman has been charged after she allegedly gave a teenager fentanyl for a toothache leading to the girl’s death.

Overland Police said that on Oct. 3, the 14-year-old victim complained about a toothache to 35-year-old Jacquelyn R. Powers.

Powers retrieved a pill from a drawer and gave it to the girl, telling her it was oxycodone from a previous surgery she had undergone.

  • About ten hours after taking the pill, the girl died. Her cause of death was determined to be a fentanyl overdose.

    Authorities did not specify the relationship between the woman and the girl.

    Powers, who remains on the lam, faces charges of first-degree child endangerment resulting in death.
