A Michigan teen and her baby daughter were killed in a tragic crash this week, authorities said.
19-year-old Journee Padgett was driving eastbound on S. Custer Road in Monroe County at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when she suddenly crossed the centerline colliding head-on with a tractor.
Padgett died at the scene while her 3-month-old daughter, who was properly secured in a car seat, died at the hospital.
The 58-year-old driver of the tractor was unharmed.
Investigators said alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash as they looked into why Padgett crossed the centerline.
Padgett worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant offering “care and comfort to many in their last days,” her obituary read.
“Journee’s love for her daughter was profound and she strived to create a beautiful and loving home for her. Alanee was healthy, happy, and loved immensely.”
