A former Orange County Sheriff’s Office employee was taken into custody this week after he allegedly shot and killed his deputy wife.

The death of Lt. Eloilda “Ellie” Shea on Oct. 14 was initially believed to be a suicide.

Investigators later determined that the deputy was shot and killed by her 49-year-old husband Anthony Shea, a former sergeant with the department.

  • On Friday, Anthony Shea was arrested on a first-degree murder charge.

    He had resigned from his job months ago amid an investigation into allegations that would have led to his termination.

    Eloilda Shea worked for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office since 2011. She leaves behind two daughters.

    “She lit up every room she entered with her infectiously bubbly personality, beautiful spirit, and kind smile,” the office said.
