A Tennessee woman was found slain this week shortly after witnesses heard her screaming for help, police said.

Alyssa Lokits, 34, was reportedly exercising on the Mill Creek Greenway on the Old Hickory Trailhead in Antioch on Monday when a man emerged from between two cars and ambushed her.

Lokits was heard screaming “Help! He’s trying to rape me” and then heard gunshots. The victim was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head.

  • Police identified 29-year-old Paul Park as a suspect in the slaying, which they described as a random attack, through park surveillance footage that showed him returning to his car with blood and scratches on him.

    A detective recognized the suspect on the footage from a previous investigation into the 2021 suicide of his twin brother.

    Residents said that Lokits, who graduated from Vanderbilt University and worked in IT, was new to the neighborhood.

    Park was charged with criminal homicide less than 24 hours after the slaying.
