2 teens found shot dead after iPhone crash alert sends Georgia police to car

Two teens were found slain with gunshot wounds inside a car after an iPhone crash alert sent Douglas County deputies to the scene Saturday morning.

Beatriz Vega, 17, and Roberto de Leon, 19, were found with critical gunshot wounds in the front seat of the car that was stopped in the middle of the road.

The teens were rushed to a hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

  • The Sheriff’s Office said detectives were “tracking leads and evaluating evidence to better understand what occurred before and at the event of gunplay,” asking for the public’s help in the case.

    Vega was remembered as a popular student and soccer player at Pebble Brook High School in Cobb County.

    “She was sweet, smart, very nice with everybody. She was responsible,” the teen’s coach said.

    “She was everything for her family, and me too, as a coach.”
