Ohio officers shoot man dead after he ‘brandished’ gun during domestic dispute

An Ohio man is dead after officers fatally shot him while responding to a domestic situation early Saturday morning.

Police were alerted to a dispute involving a man who had been threatening to kill a woman at a Dayton home shortly after 8:30 a.m.

Law enforcement had previously been to the address for mental health and domestic violence calls.

  • The man arrived in a car holding a gun and engaged with officers as they tried to de-escalate the situation for about a half-hour.

    The officers eventually fired at the man after he “brandished” the gun. He died from his injuries at the hospital despite life-saving measures provided at the scene.

    According to Maj. Paul Saunders, the shooting involved Dayton officers and a Moraine officer.

    The incident will be investigated by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
