California man charged with murder after roommate’s remains unearthed from backyard

A California man was arrested this week after human remains belonging to his roommate were discovered buried in their backyard, authorities said.

On Oct. 18, the Riverside Police Department said 48-year-old Richard Thomas Martinez admitted to killing 31-year-old Bradley Minder during an altercation earlier this month.

“Their preliminary investigation revealed the victim and suspect are roommates,” the Riverside Police Department said.

  • “That occupant was detained, and a search of the property revealed a possible crime scene in the backyard.”

    Cadaver dogs led detectives to a freshly disturbed area in the backyard where human remains were found.

    The Riverside Coroner’s Office identified the remains as Minder.

    Martinez was charged with first-degree murder and murder with malice.
