A Kansas woman believes the human remains found buried in a backyard earlier this month are those of her daughter.
Christa Helm said two of her three daughters were found at a Rose Hill residence where police discovered human remains while responding to a mental health crisis.
Helm, who had lost custody of the girls five years ago due to addiction and homelessness, strongly feels the “youth” found buried in the backyard is her daughter Natalie.
“They had to be playing in that backyard, where their sister was, and they had no idea, and if they did, how and why,” Helm said about her surviving daughters.
Police said the remains had likely been there for “several years” but have yet to confirm an identity or a cause of death.
“How does nobody know this child is missing? Why was DCF not checking up on her?” the mother wondered.
