Authorities in Chatham County, Georgia are investigating the deaths of two elderly sisters as a murder-suicide.
On Sunday, Sept. 19, officers discovered the sisters’ bodies with “apparent gunshot wounds.”
“Witnesses on the scene said the deceased women were sisters,” Police said.
“Witnesses said one sister entered the home and shot the other sister before turning the gun on herself.”
The Chatham County Coroner identified the women as Deborah Hudson, 71, and Deloris Hooker, 70.
The sisters’ 98-year-old father was reportedly at the home at the time of the incident.
Investigators learned that Hooker had lately become homeless and sought to live with her sister and father.
Neighbors said Hooker broke into the residence through the backdoor and fatally shot her sister in the chest before taking her own life.
