Pawnee news, Oklahoma news.

At least one person was killed Thursday night when a powerful storm ripped through the Oklahoma city of Pawnee leaving a path of destruction.

The National Weather Service did not confirm that the devastating storm included a tornado but said it looked like “straight-line winds.”

Officials said that the storm flipped over several camping vehicles and downed trees and power lines leaving residents without power.

“Crews have worked through the night and are still out,” they said.

The storm saw wind gusts of up to 72 mph and hail the size of golf balls. Pawnee County Sheriff Darrin Varnell confirmed that one person died when an RV got flipped over.

Other residents “essentially lost just about everything they own in a matter of seconds.”

The damage was significant. Several roads and schools were closed Friday in the aftermath of the storm.
