Veteran Kansas City firefighter dies after suffering medical emergency during training

An 11-year veteran Missouri firefighter died Tuesday after suffering a medical emergency during a training exercise.

The Kansas City Fire Department identified the firefighter as 33-year-old Kyle Brinker.

He was a member of the Rescue Division at Station 35, one of the most populated areas of Kansas City.

    “The Kansas City Fire Department and the City of Kansas City are devastated by his loss and thank him for his dedication to the residents of Kansas City,” the department said.

    “Our condolences are with his wife, family, and brothers and sisters with IAFF Local 42 during this difficult time.”
