Demotte news, Indiana news.

An Indiana family is blaming the police for the death of a father who was restrained and handcuffed while having a seizure before his death.

Rhyker Earl’s grandmother called the police on Sept. 8 seeking help for the man who was having a second seizure that day.

Jasper County deputies and paramedics responded to the DeMotte home, handcuffed the patient, and restrained him to the floor as he “was pleading for his life.”

Earl’s aunt Miracle Gawlinski said she tried to intervene but was ignored and left to witness her nephew struggle.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said that the family’s account was “full of inaccuracies” and that the Indiana State Police will handle the investigation.

“I will be his voice that he no longer has,” Gawlinski said.

“This is just very unfortunate. It did not need to happen. We should not be here today.”
