Washington DC news, Washington news.

Vice President Kamala Harris reaffirmed her status as a gun owner during a livestream fundraiser with Oprah Winfrey.

The Democratic nominee also made a bold comment threatening to shoot intruders if they tried to break into her heavily fortified Naval Observatory in Washington.

“If somebody breaks into my house, they’re getting shot,” she said ending the remark with a laugh.

“I probably should not have said that. My staff will deal with that later.”

Harris defended her stance on gun control measures as “just common sense” advocating for the reinstatement of a federal assault weapons ban.

“Here’s my point, Oprah. I’m not trying to take everyone’s guns away. I believe in the Second Amendment.”

“I’m in favor of the Second Amendment, and I’m in favor of assault weapons bans, universal background checks, red flag laws.”

Harris’ remarks stirred a fierce wave of criticism on social media.

“Real gun owners don’t joke around about shooting people because we understand the weight of that responsibility,” one said.

“She’d prosecute you if you did that through,” another added.
