‘Very horrific’: Toddler, 2, fatally struck after running out in from of car in Maryland

A Maryland family is grieving the unexpected loss of their 2-year-old son after he was fatally struck by a car on Tuesday evening.

Annapolis Chief Ed Jackson said Cody Aguilar Gomez did not survive his injuries after he stepped out in front of a moving vehicle at around 4 p.m.

Before his sudden move, Cody was reportedly sitting on the sidewalk as his mother got a sibling out of the car in a parking lot.

  • Jackson called the incident a “very horrific and tragic accident” adding that the driver had no criminal intent and that he was cooperating in the investigation.

    “My heart is heavy because the reality is it’s every parent’s worst nightmare that’s come true for the Gomez family,” he said.

    “My thoughts and my prayers are with the Gomez family. I can’t imagine the pain that they’re going through now.”
