US news.

It was a roller coaster morning on the Senate floor Saturday that ended with impeachment managers and Trump lawyers agreeing over an unsuspected deal.

Now, Donald Trump’s lawyers will avoid getting Washington Lawmaker Jaime Herrera Beutler testifying against their client.

But the congresswoman’s testimony would still be read into the record without being deposed as a formal witness in the case.

Beutler rendered Trump’s defense team speechless when she said Friday evening that she was present during a call between Trump and Kevin McCarthy on the very day of the insurrection.

Her comments triggered a request from Impeachment managers to have her taking the stand on Saturday.
