The states of Massachusetts and Virginia are offering prisoners interesting incentives to get their Covid vaccines.

The Massachusetts Department of Corrections said in a memo that inmates could see their sentences reduced if they received both doses, read and watch educational materials and submit an approval form.

The prisoners will then be “eligible to earn deductions from sentences and completion credits, collectively known as good conduct deductions, for participation in and completion of programs and activities.”

The incentives are “free email stamps and telephone credits” as well as commissary items.
