Mass. Democrat tests positive for Covid despite getting both vaccine doses

The spokesperson for U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch announced Friday that the congressman has tested positive for the coronavirus despite getting both vaccine doses.

The Massachusetts Democrat had attended Biden’s Inauguration and is the third lawmaker to contract the coronavirus following January 6 riots and shelter in place.

  • “This afternoon US Representative Stephen F. Lynch received a positive test result for Covid-19 after a staff member in the Congressman’s Boston office had tested positive earlier in the week,” the statement said.

    Lynch will be in quarantine and not attend Congress next week in person, opting to vote by proxy, his office added.

    The jab builds immunity against illness caused by the virus, and not the virus itself, but would “typically takes a few weeks” to work.
