A Wisconsin mother was charged this week in connection with the drowning death of her 1-year-old son, authorities said.
Selena Doxzon, 28, reportedly left her 3-year-old and 1-year-old sons to play in the tub after bathing them and went to cook breakfast.
She allegedly told detectives she was in the kitchen for about four minutes when her older son came to her “soaking wet” and she went to the bathroom looking for a towel.
That’s when Doxzon found her 1-year-old son floating unresponsive, face up in the tub.
A neighbor and then the medics provided CPR at the scene. The boy, Asher Wyatt Doxzon, was rushed to Children’s Wisconsin Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said the water in the tub was about 3 ½ to 4 inches deep. The child’s cause of death was determined as asphyxiation as a result of drowning.
The mother was charged with one count of neglect of a child causing death. Her bond was set at $10,000.
