A Texas child is dead after a tragic accident involving a family member, police in Kaufman said Thursday.
Officers and fire units responded to the 400 block of East Hickory Street on reports of a severely injured child.
Once at the scene, officers learned the young child was accidentally run over by a family member.

The child was rushed by his family to Texas Health Kaufman Hospital, where he died in the emergency room despite all efforts to save his life.
Police did not immediately release the identities of those involved or the child’s age.
No charges were filed in connection with the accident as officers continue to gather evidence.
