A West Virginia man has allegedly confessed to shooting a female friend and her boyfriend dead because he was “tired of being used by her.”
Troopers with the West Virginia State Police were flagged down by a witness who discovered the bodies of Brenda Dennis and Richard Bishop inside Dennis’ home late on Thursday.
The witness told troopers about Dennis’ friend, Michael Wayne Adkins, and said that the 58-year-old was “obsessed” with the woman and did not like her boyfriend, identified as Bishop.
Dennis’ son confirmed to police that Adkins, who had been friends with his mother for three years, once told him he was “going to kill Mr. Bishop one day.”
Adkins was arrested and interviewed by investigators. He reportedly admitted to shooting Dennis once and her boyfriend three times after an argument.
The suspect said that Dennis called him to her home to give her a ride, then asked to borrow his car before a fight broke out.
Adkins allegedly told police he was “tired of being used” by Dennis. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
