New York news, US news.

Massive crowds of protesters rallied in several cities across the US on Saturday to decry President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s policies.

“Hands Off!” protests gathered in more than 1,200 locations across the 50 states and were organized by more than 150 groups and civil rights organizations.

The organizers called the biggest day of demonstrations against Trump since he took office “a nationwide mobilization to stop the most brazen power grab in modern history.”

Demonstrators rallied against mass federal layoffs, cuts to Social Security and Medicare, immigration crackdowns, the American involvement in Gaza and Ukraine, and the threats to civil freedoms.

Thousands of Americans packed Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue in a crowd that stretched over 20 blocks, holding signs calling for democracy and criticizing “Billionaires.”

“This is what we’re standing out here in the cold for,” a former police officer said.

“This is what we’re getting fallen arches and stiff backs for – and I think it’s important.”
