Violent prisoner serving 16 life-sentences kills 3 inmates at Arizona state prison

An infamous prisoner serving 16 life sentences at an Arizona state prison allegedly killed three inmates during a fight on Friday, authorities said.

Ricky Wassenaar is accused of killing Saul Alvarez, Thorne Harnage, and Donald Lashley at the Arizona State Police Cimmaron Unit in Tucson.

    Wassenaar was serving 16 life sentences for plotting one of the longest prison hostage situations in U.S. history in 2004.

    He and Steven Coy took two prison guards hostage for 15 days at the Arizona State Prison Lewis Complex in Buckeye after a botched escape attempt.
