11 middle-school students sent to NY hospitals after eating marijuana gummies
Authorities in Suffolk County, New York are investigating after at least 11 middle school students ingested marijuana gummies and became ill Monday morning.
Police said that a student got a hold of pot edibles and gave some to a dozen of their schoolmates, sending 11 to the hospitals.
The incident occurred at William Floyd Middle School in Moriches. The victims were aged between 13 and 14 years old.
The students began vomiting after taking the gummies and experienced dizziness and racing cardiac rates.
The school nurse sought assistance from EMT and parents were made aware of the incident.
“You don’t know where they got it from and what is mixed in there,” one said. “My daughter texted me when it happened and said they were in a lockdown.”
