A Louisiana college student collapsed and died early Thursday while participating in an off-campus fraternity ritual, Southern University officials said.
Caleb Wilson, 20, was taking part in an Omega Psi Phi fraternity ritual at North Sherwood Forest Community Park where members stood in a line when he suddenly collapsed.
He was unresponsive when brought to Baton Rouge Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 3:15 a.m.
“Southern University and A&M College is aware of an off-campus incident that may have resulted in the death of student Caleb Wilson, a junior from New Orleans majoring in mechanical engineering,” the university said in a statement.
“The campus community extends condolences to his family, classmates, and loved ones.”
