A Michigan man is behind bars after she allegedly killed her teen son on Friday, claiming it was part of a suicide pact they had made.
Katie Austin Lee, 39, told detectives that she and her son Austin Pikaart tried to overdose on medications on Thursday afternoon but their suicide attempt failed.
About five hours later, Lee tried to get Pikaart to stop breathing before using a knife to cut his throat and arm.
“She advised her son asked her to help him stop breathing because he did not want to turn 18,” police said.
Lee then called 911 and reported slitting her son's throat after he lost consciousness.
She reportedly threatened responding officers with a knife because she wanted them to kill her.
Pikkart’s cause of death was a laceration to his neck. His mother was arrested on open murder and resisting and obstructing an officer charges.
