Authorities in Belize, Mexico are suspecting drug overdoses after three American tourists were found dead in their hotel room last weekend.
Local Police identified the victims as Kaoutar Naqqad, 23, Imane Mallah, 24, and Wafae El-Arar, 26.
They were found dead at the Royal Kahal Beach Resort on Saturday. The women had froth on their mouths suggesting they died from drug overdoses.
Hotel employees used master keys to enter the women’s room and found the bodies. They were last seen entering the room late Thursday and not exiting again.
Attempts to contact the women on Friday failed and police were called. There was no evidence of forced entry or criminal activity.
Officers reportedly found snacks, liquids, electronic devices, and vapes in the women’s room. An investigation is ongoing.
