Police in Denver, Colorado arrested a woman wanted in Mooresville, North Carolina for the fentanyl overdose death of her 2-year-old daughter.
Riley Wormington, 23, was arrested this week, a year after she fled while Mooresville Police investigated the death of her toddler from fentanyl ingestion.
“Shortly after giving birth to a second child, Riley They Wormington, 23, the mother of the deceased, moved out of state while the investigation continued,” The Mooresville Police Department said.
“The Mooresville Police Department would like to thank the U.S. Marshals Service for their assistance in the successful arrest of Wormington.”
Prior to her toddler’s death, Wormington had been arrested several times in Colorado for traffic violations but the nature of her ties to Colorado remains unclear.
Wormington has active warrants in North Carolina for second-degree murder, felony child abuse, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
