Alabama mother charged in death of newborn after admitting to using fentanyl before labor

An Alabama mother has been charged in connection to the death of her newborn earlier this week.

Whitney Nicole Greene, 32, was charged with chemical endangerment of a child after her baby died during labor.

Anniston Police Chief Nick Bowles said that Greene was admitted to Regional Medical Center for a labor induction appointment on Monday.

    Bowles said doctors performed life-saving measures on the baby who did not survive.

    Greene, who remains in the hospital, will be booked into the Calhoun County Jail upon release.
