Kansas woman mauled to death while trying to break up family dogs’ fight

A Kansas woman was fatally attacked by her own pitbull after she reportedly intervened to break up a dog fight.

Moeshae Thomas, 40, died Sunday hours after she was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, Wichita Police said.

Detectives said Thomas suffered her fatal injuries when she attempted to end a fight involving two family pit bulls.

  • “At this time, based on the investigation, we believe there were two pit bulls inside the home, both family dogs, that were fighting,” said Police Spokesperson Aaron Moses.

    “The victim attempted to break up the dogs when she was attacked.”

    The two dogs have since been surrendered to Wichita Animal Services. An investigation into the attack is ongoing.
