A Texas mother-of-two was fatally shot by a stray bullet that also struck her brother while the family sat in their backyard late Saturday.
36-year-old Marisela Camarillo was pronounced dead in her backyard at around 7 p.m. shortly after the shooting. Her brother is expected to survive.
Her husband Carlos Camarillo said she was waiting for an Uber Eats food delivery when she was struck.
“We got some enchiladas from a restaurant nearby and we were eating dinner outside when she got a notification that Uber was outside the door for the kids,” he recalled.
“My wife called one of the kids and said, ‘Hey, go get the food. It’s here.’ And that was the last thing she said.”
The grieving man believes the same bullet struck his wife and her brother.
“I turned around, and I heard the bullets coming through and I saw my brother-in-law, he fell and when he looked up, he looked at my wife because she was already on the floor,”
“I couldn’t imagine that something like this could happen in my own house. The only thing we want is justice for my wife Maricela.”
No arrests were made as detectives continue recovering evidence and reviewing surveillance footage.
