A former SpaceX engineer is behind bars after he allegedly killed his wife and attacked his own mother during a visit to his parents’ home on Feb. 19.
Sam Whittemore, 34, stands accused of killing 32-year-old Margeaux Whittemore whose naked body was found in the driveway of the Readfield home by responding officers.
Inside the residence, officers found Whittemore’s 67-year-old mother suffering from critical injuries.
The medical examiner’s office ruled Margeaux Whittemore’s death a homicide but did not provide the cause of death.
The woman was a yoga teacher with an Instagram account documenting her travels around the world.
Police arrested Sam Whittemore and took him to a nearby hospital for evaluation. He was booked into the Kennebec County Jail on murder charges.
