7 people injured after gas grill explosion at Hawaii beachside condo

A gas grill explosion at a Maui, Hawaii condo has left seven people injured Thursday evening, local police said.

The blast occurred at around 6:15 p.m. at the Aston at The Whaler in the 2481 Kaanapali Parkway in west Maui, the Maui Police Department said.

Seven people aged from 18 to 74 suffered injuries including three listed in critical condition.

    Video of the incident showed the explosion occurred in a middle floor near a swimming pool at the beachside condominium complex.

    Investigators believe the explosion involved liquefied petroleum gas. Witnesses suggested a grill malfunction caused the blast.

    The incident remains under an ongoing investigation.
