Teen accused of plotting Memorial HS attack struggled with depression; mother tells court

A Texas girl accused of plotting a terroristic attack on Memorial High School made her first court appearance Friday morning.

The 16-year-old girl’s mother told the judge through Zoom, that her daughter struggled with depression and anxiety and had previously tried to harm herself back in 2022.

About the other co-defendant, the mother said she had visited their home several times but with the door kept open and with her checking on the girls.

    She appeared in court without handcuffs and wearing her hair in a ponytail as Judge Samantha Davis rejected her defense attorney’s requests for release.

    She will remain in custody until her next court appearance on March 6.
