Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky hit back at President Donald Trump for questioning his popularity and excluding Kyiv from talks between Washington and Moscow.
Zelensky also told Trump his country was not for sale after the latter’s suggestion that Ukraine pay back the military help from the US through a mineral exploration deal.
“I am protecting Ukraine. I can’t sell it away. I can’t sell our state,” Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian President also criticized the US for not involving his country in the talks held in Riyadh with Russia.
“I believe that the United States helped Putin to break out of years of isolation…All of this has no positive impact on Ukraine,” he added.
Last night, Trump blamed Zelensky for not achieving a deal to end the Russian invasion sooner and falsely claimed that only four percent of Ukrainians supported him.
“I think I have the power to end this war, and I think it’s going very well,” Trump said.
“But today, I heard, ‘Oh, well, we weren’t invited.’ Well, you’ve been there for three years.”
“You should have ended it. You should have never started it. You could have made a deal. I could have made a deal for Ukraine.”
