A California fire captain was found dead from multiple stab wounds inside the Ramona home she shared with her mother, police said Monday.
San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Rebecca “Becky” Marodi’s home just before 9 p.m. and administrated life-saving measures to no avail.
The 49-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times and investigators believe she knew her killer.
Marodi spent over 30 years of her life in fire service beginning as a volunteer in Moreno Valley. In 2022, she was promoted to captain.
“Her passing is a profound loss to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside her,” the Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire Department said in a statement.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Captain Marodi’s loved and stand together in remembrance of her extraordinary life and service.”
