A suspect is dead and an officer was injured after a disturbance at a Miami Township home Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. in the 9200 block of Sawgrass Drive near PiperStone Golf Club, officials said.
The situation quickly escalated to a shooting, leading officers to issue a county-wide call for assistance.

“We’ve never dealt with any violence or any theft or anything at all since the time we lived here,” a neighbor said.
Miami Township Police confirmed that an officer was taken to a hospital and that the suspect was killed.
“It’s extremely sad, of course, we hate to hear that anybody. Law enforcement passed away or especially one of our neighbors passed away including in a domestic situation.”
