Baby becomes unresponsive, later dies after being placed in bouncer seat at Georgia daycare

Authorities in Statesboro, Georgia are investigating the death of a 6-month-old girl who became unresponsive while in a bouncer seat at a local daycare.

Lennon Sammons was found unresponsive at the Pittman Park Church Education Center on Feb. 12. She died Monday at Memorial Hospital in Savannah.

“According to initial reports, the child was placed in a bouncy sear and later became unresponsive while being attended to by staff,” the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning said.

    Statesboro Police Captain Jared Akins said he expects the family to wait several months before learning what caused their child’s death.

    “It is a very lengthy process, and I know that’s not what any family member wants to hear. That’s not what friends want to hear,”

    “Those are just things that we have to go through to make sure we are thorough.”
