Gainesville news, Texas news.

A north Texas girl took her own life earlier this month after she shared with school counselors that she was being bullied.

Jocelynn Carranza, 11, died on February 8. Her mother said classmates at Gainesville Intermediate School were threatening to call the ICE on her family tormenting the little girl.

“It appears the school was aware of it all, but they never, they never told me what was happening with my daughter,” the grieving mother said.

“Whenever we receive a report of bullying, we respond swiftly to ensure all students are safe physically and emotionally,” the district said.

“While we cannot release any information about specific students or incidents, our schools have several policies in place to combat bullying and resolve conflicts.”

The medical examiner’s office ruled Carranza’s death a suicide but did not yet inform the family how the child died.
