Miss Teen USA contestant Kadance Fredericksen died earlier this week in a crash involving a semitractor-trailer just days after sharing an Instagram post about her new scholarship.
The 18-year-old former Miss Okaloosa County was killed in a head-on collision with the tractor while traveling along Highway Four in Santa Rosa Monday.
Just a week earlier, the teen posted a video on Instagram about the scholarship she was awarded during a ceremony for the Ellison McCraney Ingram Foundation.
“I am incredibly grateful to be selected as a recipient of this year’s Ellison McCraney Ingram Foundation $40,000 Scholarship,” she posted.
“This generous support will help shape my future and bring me one step closer to achieving my dreams,”
“Thank you to the Ingram family, the foundation, and everyone involved for this amazing honor!”
The Baker School student was also the youngest person awarded Crestview’s Citizen of the Year.
“Kadance was a beacon of light in our community, known for her compassion, tireless advocacy for children in need, and unwavering dedication to making a difference,” her school said in a statement.
